Explorer.exe instability

Having trouble with OS instability, mainly seems targeted on explorer. I found that if I just use WB - I have no issues, however once I start using DesktopX, XP becomes so unstable that I end up with a rebuild.
I installed WB and DesktopX on my partners PC (he's running the new 64) and had exactly the same scenario play out. Just WB - no problems but as soon as DesktopX went on (and used) - same story and now he is looking at a rebuild

Any assistance would be appreciated

Have you tried Corky's tutorial on cache clearing?

I've been having explorer.exe crashes since the 18th. when i open something it either crashes or the installer tries to install earthlink total access (already installed) or the drivers for my printer (please insert disk) or just gives an error report but nothing happens. I just running WB and CursorXP
